Mazda Releases Huge Image Gallery for New Mazda6 Sedan and Wagon

At the Paris Auto Show, Mazda launched its new contender in the European D-segment that accounts for a little over 6.2 percent of the total passenger car market in the guise of the Mazda6 sedan and wagon models.

The Japanese carmaker says that both versions embody “the purest adaption yet” of its corporate “KODO – Soul of Motion” design philosophy, with the signature “wing” grille, flowing lines and a coupe-like roofline that has been moved back by 100mm giving the mid-size model a more dynamic character.

The 2,830 mm long wheelbase of the sedan promises ample space in the cabin, but surprisingly, the Wagon has a smaller wheelbase at 2,750mm and is also shorter at 4,800mm (the saloon is 4,865mm long, always according to Mazda).

Bat-Holding Teen Smashes a Mazda6 Over a Magazine Cover...We Think

While nothing really surprises us any more, it's not everyday that you see a youngster going berserk on a fairly new vehicle.

To be honest, though, we have some reservations about the authenticity of this episode and whether it was staged or not (for whatever reason), but ultimately, we will let you be the judge of that.

Following the release of new photos of the Mazda6 Wagon last night, the Japanese automaker has now confirmed the engine lineup for the European market versions of the mid-size model ahead of its premiere at this month's Paris Motor Show.

New Images of the 2014 Mazda6 Station Wagon

Here are some new pieces of the puzzle that is the 2014 model year Mazda6, and more specifically, fresh photos of the station wagon variant that will make its first public appearance at this month's Paris Motor Show.

The more practical and roomier (at least in terms of luggage space) Mazda6 Wagon sports an equally athletic design as its saloon counterpart with a heavily slanted rear window and a tailgate that digs in much lower into the rear bumper compared to the four-door sedan to make loading easier.

2014 Mazda6 Sedan Fully Exposed, Mega Gallery with 55 Photos

With the 2012 Moscow Motor Show (August 31 to September 9 for the public) just around the corner, Mazda has released a full set of photos and all sorts of details on its all-new 2014 Mazda6 mid-size model, which in some parts of the world including Europe, will also be offered as a station wagon.

The Mazda6 is the (more mundane looking) production version of the aggressive Takeri Concept from 2011 and it encompasses the firm's new "KODO – Soul of Motion" design language as well as a full range of SKYACTIV technologies.

"We have created a design in which the wild and dynamic expressions of motion artistically realise a powerful presence," says chief designer Akira Tamatani. "Simply looking at the car heightens one’s expectations about the driving experience even before actually riding in it."

These latest photos provide us with a first glimpse of the interior which is less glamorous in styling than the exterior. Mazda says it has used soft materials on areas frequently touched by occupants, such as the door trims and the upper part of the dashboard panel and has paid special attention to details.

2014 Mazda6 Station Wagon Makes its Video Debut

On Thursday, we told you that Mazda celebrated the start of production of the all-new mid-size '6' at its Hofu Plant No. 2 in Japan with a special ceremony that was attended by some 500 people including the brand's CEO, Takashi Yamanouchi, executives, employees and a representative of the Mazda Workers Union.

It wouldn't have been much of a deal if the automaker had offered us more pictures of the sedan and more importantly, if Mazda hadn't rolled out the new Station Wagon variant which we saw for the very first time.

First Official Photo of 2014 Mazda6 Wagon, Production Begins in Japan

Only a week after the release of a series of pictures of the 2014 Mazda6 sedan, the automaker revealed the station wagon variant today during a special ceremony at the company's Hofu Plant No. 2, in Japan to commemorate the start of the production of the new mid-size model.

The estate version of the new Mazda6, which will probably not make it to North America, has a sleek profile thanks to a sloping roofline and a slanted tailgate design.

New 2014 Mazda6 Sedan Photos and Video, Debuts Next Month, Goes on Sale in 2013

Less than 24 hours after Mazda dropped the first photo of the all-new '6' sedan, also known as Atenza in its home market of Japan, the automaker unleashed a few more photos including an image of the car's rear end and a video containing all previously released teaser clips in one.

The Japanese company tells us that it will hold the world premiere of the 2014 Mazda6 with the 2.0-liter SkyActive model at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show in Russia (August 29 to September 9, 2012), with the complete lineup of vehicles to make their debut in late September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The new Mazda6 is a toned-down, production version of last year's Takeri Concept sporting the company's more aggressive 'KODO' design language that combines curves with hard lines for a dynamic look.

The mid-size model is the second Mazda after the CX-5 crossover to incorporate the full range of SKYACTIV technologies which brings a lightweight modular platform and a suite of clean gasoline and diesel engines.

First Official Photo of All-New 2014 Mazda6 Sedan

Over the past couple of weeks, Mazda has been teasing us with a string of videos outlining the shape and main characteristics of the brand-new Mazda6 (called Atenza in Japan), but now we can show the very first official image of the mid-size saloon, courtesy of the Japanese brand's Russian arm.

The single image reveals the Mazda6's dynamic-looking front end which keeps the curves and lines of the highly cited 2011 Takeri Concept - albeit toned down a notch (or two) for mainstream consumption.

Another day, another dark video teaser of the third generation Mazda6 sedan, which is also known as the Atenza in Japan.

2014 Mazda6 Station Wagon Hits the Photoshop Crowd

Thanks to some revealing spy shots, a couple of official teaser videos and of course, the knowledge that the 2011 Takeri Concept was created to preview the new Mazda6, we have a pretty good idea of what Mazda's new mid-size model will look like. Read more »

2014 Mazda6 Teaser No2 Shows Sculpted Front Fenders

From the looks of things, over the next few days and perhaps even weeks, Mazda will be previewing the upcoming replacement for the Mazda6 with a series of videos, each showing a different section of the car.

Following on from the first clip on Monday that showed the new Mazda6's front grille and part of the headlamp assembly, the Japanese carmaker dropped a second teaser on Friday that covers the heavily sculpted front fenders, the A-pillars and door mounted mirrors.

First Official Video Teaser of Brand New 2014 Mazda6

You know Mazda is trying to make a point about it’s next Mazda6 when it drops a short teaser clip entitled "All-New Mazda6, not TAKERI"...

But just to make sure we all get it, Mazda adds: "This is not the TAKERI concept car, it is the first glimpse of the all-new Mazda6 and the similarities are definitely intentional."

Our recent spy pictures of a prototype model of the new Mazda6 Estate had already confirmed the styling direction and how close the series is to last year's Takeri concept car, but this video gives us a better view of the mid-size model's front end.

Spied: The All-New 2014 Mazda6 Appears in Wagon Guise, First Photo of the Interior

For a new model in its final development phase, Mazda sure did one helluva job keeping the near-production prototypes of its next '6' far away from the prying eyes of spy photographers over the last year.

But all that came to an end this week when our man with the long lens finally scooped the actual Mazda6 in station wagon form, which will likely join the four-door sedan model for its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in September.

The two cars will share the same design language so what you see here sans the roofline and the shape of the rear-end can be applied to the saloon.

The black and white wrap can’t hide the fact that the next Mazda6 draws heavily on the sassy styling of the Takeri concept car displayed at last fall's Tokyo motor show, softened up, of course, for mainstream consumption.
