Mopar Drops the SRT Viper's V10 Into the Dodge Charger Juiced Concept


If there's one thing Mopar's people like doing to Chrysler Group cars more than anything else, it is to shoehorn the brand's gargantuan V10 powerplant under their hoods.

For this year's SEMA Show, they had the opportunity to do it again, this time with the latest iteration of the Dodge Charger sports sedan that gets a Viper 8.4-liter V10 Mopar crate engine, good enough for 650-horsepower, or 10hp more than the new 2013 SRT Viper sports coupe.

Mopar Shows the Darker Side of the 2013 Dodge Dart with SEMA Study


With the aftermarket party that is the SEMA Show in Las Vegas approaching our way, the Chrysler Group wanted to give us an early look at some of the cars its Mopar division has prepared for the event.

Following the unveiling of the Fiat 500 Beach Cruiser Concept earlier today, the automaker continued the presentations with the 2013 Dodge Dart Carbon Fire prototype.

The charcoal grey colored Dart sedan has been dressed up appropriately for SEMA with a selection of production and prototype Mopar parts, highlighted by a full carbon fiber hood with a hood scoop that is said to offer significant weight savings, but which is not yet commercially available.

New 2013 Dodge Dart Aero is the Most Fuel Efficient in the Range at 41MPG HWY, Starts at $19,925*


Dodge has released pricing on the newest and the most fuel efficient model in the Dart sedan's range. Named the Aero, it is powered by Fiat’s 1.4-liter MultiAir turbocharged inline-four delivering 160-horses and 184 lb.-ft. of torque.

The new Dart Aero has a starting MSRP of $19,295 excluding a $795 destination (*) destination fee, and returns 41 mpg (5.7 lt/100km) on the highway with the six-speed manual and 40 mpg (5.9 lt/100km) with the six-speed Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDCT).

Chrysler Group Preparing More Than 20 Mopar Concepts for SEMA Show


There is no other better place in the world for Chrysler's official tuning arm Mopar to display its goods than the automotive aftermarket bonanza that is the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

At this year's event, which runs from October 30 to November 2, the company plans to bring more than 20 new Moparized Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat and SRT vehicles.

Chrysler Employee Kills Co-Worker then Commits Suicide, Automaker Idles Down Jefferson North Plant


In a developing story, authorities say a Chrysler employee fatally stabbed a male co-worker at the Detroit company's Jefferson North assembly plant at around8 a.m. Thursday.

Detroit police Sgt. Alan Quinn told reporters that the suspect fled the factory and then committed suicide at the Belle Isle Park. The unnamed man is said to have died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Chrysler confirmed the incident in a short press statement:"Two employees were involved in an altercation inside the plant. One employee was stabbed and unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. The Detroit Police Department is currently investigating."

Dodge Charger Pursuit to be Offered with Hemi V8 and All-Wheel Drive


On the same day that Ford announced the addition of a 305Hp 3.7-liter V6 option for its Taurus-based Police Interceptor Sedan, the Chrysler Group revealed that is preparing an all-wheel drive version of its Hemi V8-powered Dodge Charger Pursuit vehicle, which up until now, was available to law enforcement agencies only with rear-wheel drive. Chrysler Cuts Incentives and Penalties Strategy, Dealers Will Have to Rely On Sales and Service


Customer satisfaction is something all carmakers strive to achieve. The way each one chooses to improve and thus gain customer loyalty as well as a good reputation, differs among them.

In 2009, when the US automotive industry was in turmoil, the Chrysler Group initiated the Dealer Standards program.

It was Chrysler's way to make dealers improve their facilities and their customer satisfaction index. Large dealerships could be awarded as much as US$200,000 per quarter if they met the Pentastar’s standards, and receive penalties for failing to do so.

Chrysler Group Exec Feels Proud About the Brand's New Interiors


Speaking to an audience at the 2012 Management Briefing Seminars in Michigan on Wednesday, Chrysler Group's head of interior design Klaus Busse said that the company's bankruptcy played a positive role in improving the brand's interiors, which for the most part, were universally panned during the Daimler era.

According to Autonews, Busse, a German ex-pat who remained with Chrysler when Mercedes-Benz's parent company Daimler jumped boat in 2007, said that after the company re-emerged from bankruptcy in 2009, the remaining employees had sense of shared purpose, as well as a bigger budget and an artistic freedom.

It's Official: Dodge to Withdraw from NASCAR in 2013


For some, Dodge and NASCAR go together like beer and ride-on lawn mowers but after Penske Racing's surprise decision in February to end its partnership with the Chrysler Group brand at the end of the 2012 season and switch to Ford as its manufacturer for Sprint Cup cars in 2013, the Detroit automaker didn't have a lot of options, or so it claims (see below).

In a press conference today, SRT Motorsports President and CEO Ralph Gilles said that the automaker tried hard its best to find a company to replace Penske Racing as a builder for its competition engines, but failed to a come up with a viable solution.

Chrome Lamborghini Aventador, Viper ACR and Batmobile Assemble at Times Square


New Yorkers and tourists passing through Times Square were treated to a rare sight this past weekend when an assortment of specialty cars were parked on the road for their viewing pleasure.

The vehicles that stood out the most were a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 dressed in a chrome foil wrap with contrasting red pin stripes decorating and highlighting the supercar's hard edges, a Batmobile replica from Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film and a Dodge Viper ACR.
