Jaguar Boss Says F-Type is the Brand’s “Orientation Point”, Small Saloon and SUV May Come Next

The on-again, off-again “E-Type successor” saga that’s been dragging on for more than a decade finally ended with the launch of the F-Type roadster at this year’s Paris Auto Show.

Jaguar boss Adrian Hallmark stated to Autocar magazine that the without the F-Type “our heritage would not be complete” and that the new sports car will form the core around which the rest of the brand’s future range will be built.

Jaguar F-Type Priced from $69,000* in the U.S., New Configurator Plus Fresh Photos from Paris

Only days after the brand new F-Type's big reveal at the Paris Auto Salon, and Jaguar has released U.S. pricing and even launched an online configurator for those who like playing around with colors and extras, regardless of whether you intend to buy the roadster.

When it goes on sale in the United States next year, the rear-wheel drive sports car will start at $69,000, excluding an $875 destination and handling fee (*) for the base model that is powered by a 335HP (340PS) 3.0-liter supercharged V6.

If it makes you feel better, even if you include taxes, the entry-level model's price tag in the States is considerably less than what UK buyers will pay for the car, which at £58,500 (€73,200, US$94,400 at today's rates), is actually higher than that of the V8 model in the U.S…

New Jaguar F-Type Officially Revealed, Prices Start from £58,500 in the UK [Photos & Video]

The Jaguar F-Type will certainly be one of this year’s Paris Auto Show main attractions with the British brand providing all the juicy details during the presentation of the car at the Musée Rodin museum in Paris.

The front-engined, rear-wheel drive convertible was previewed at the 2011 IAA by the C-X16 concept. Despite that concept being a coupe, the F-Type, which is a soft-top convertible, remains remarkably faithful to the concept.

Jaguar claims that its models have “always defined sinuous, muscular simplicity”, adding that the F-Type follows the same principles.

“A piece of design should tell a story and this is why every line in the F-Type has a start, a direction and a conclusion”, said the brand’s director of design Ian Callum. “If you approach every line individually and get it as aesthetically correct as possible, get the dimensions right, it will stand the test of time”, he added.

2013 Jaguar F-Type Disclosed in New Photos Including the First of the Interior

While Jaguar itself was releasing videos of the new F-Type in camouflage, a member of the Teamspeed forums unloaded a fresh gallery of 14 pictures that show us the open-top sports car from in two different shades from all sorts of angles, including the never before seen interior.

We can happily report that the styling of the roadster model's rear end with its sharp lines, narrow taillights and a protruding pair of twin exhaust pipes has also remained true to the well-received C-X16 Coupe Concept model.

The same appears to be case for the interior, at least from this point of view with only some minor changes to the design of the body-hugging seats and possibly the trim décor.

Jaguar Releases Final Test Track Videos of the F-Type Before the Big Unveiling in Paris

As the countdown for the grand-premiere of the all-new F-Type at the Paris Motor Show this Thursday officially begins, Jaguar published the final clips of its teaser video series on the development of the rear-wheel drive roadster model.

The first video named "Fierce" takes us to the Nardo Test Facility in Italy, where the British firm's engineers performed numerous high-speed tests on the unique ring shaped track that allowed the F-Type to reach its maximum velocity.

Jaguar Shows us How it Tested the F-Type Roadster on European Tracks

It appears that Jaguar is trying to capitalize on the interest surrounding its newest sports car after the first official image of the F-Type made the internet rounds on Wednesday by reminding us that the roadster will debut in a week's time at the Paris Auto Show, and more importantly, by sharing a new video.

The new film released today includes footage of the British brand's vehicle dynamics team testing a craftily camouflaged pre-production model in the UK, Germany and Italy. In one instance, we see the speedometer's needle surpassing the 180mph (290km/h) mark.

Jaguar F-Type Photo is the Real Deal, Check Out the High Resolution Version

Any doubts that we had about the authenticity of the single image of the production F-Type roadster found on Chris Doane's Facebook page earlier today, were cleared up by Jaguar itself that released a high-resolution version of the same picture.

As we noted in our previous posting, the F-Type in roadster guise looks more or less like an exact copy (sans the absence of the roof, of course) of last year's C-X16 Coupe Concept model.

If the idea of a sturdier and racier-looking closed-top model sounds better to you, fear not, as Jaguar will present a coupe version of the two seater, possibly by late 2013 or early 2014 with sales to follow in the second half of 2014.

Did the New Jaguar F-Type Roadster Make an Early Appearance?

Ladies and gentlemen, this could be it: the production version of the much-talked about Jaguar F-Type has likely received an early reveal thanks to a Facebook posting from automotive spy photographer Chris Doane.

While not 100 percent sure, we think that the image does seem like the real deal, in which case, the new British roadster is what we hoped it would look like when we first saw the C-X16 Coupe Concept model during its world premiere at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show.

Jaguar-Land Rover to Celebrate James Bond's Golden Anniversary at Paris Auto Show [w/Video]

The last time we saw a Jaguar in a 007 flick it was 10 years ago in Die Another Day: the car was a previous-generation XKR convertible driven by the villain, while Bond drove an Aston Martin Vanquish.

It was the last Bond film starring Pierce Brosnan and at the time, both companies were part of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group. Nowadays, Daniel Craig has replaced Brosnan, the fictional secret agent’s storyline has been rebooted and Ford has since sold Jaguar and Aston Martin.

Jaguar Land Rover Mulling Assembly Plant in Saudi Arabia

Aluminum is playing an increasingly important role in the construction of Jaguar-Land Rover’s (JLR) new models, in an effort to decrease weight and thus, reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The most recent example is the brand-new Range Rover that will make its official debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

The use of an all-aluminum monocoque body, which is 39 percent lighter than the outgoing model’s conventional, steel body, and the aluminum front and rear chassis members have resulted in the new SUV weighing a whopping 420 kg (920 pounds) less than the previous model, depending on specification.

Can You Tell if This Jaguar F-Type is Powered by a Supercharged V6 or a V8?

Here's an audio quiz for you: do you think that the Jaguar F-Type prototype filmed here testing on the Nordschleife is sporting one of the two versions of the brand's 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engines or the 5.0-liter supercharged V8?

Florida Cop Smells "A Lot of Marijuana" in a Jaguar Driving on the Highway, Finds Near to Nothing

Yes, it's another police incident from Florida – it seems we're having a lot of those lately. This time, we have a Sarasota Sheriff Deputy who was convinced that the passengers of an older generation Jaguar XJ were smoking pot -and lots of it- while driving on the road.

This incident took place on a Friday night in May, but the dash-cam footage from the patrol car was released this week.

In the police report, Sarasota Sheriff's Deputy Dominic Fornal noted that he was following the 2003 Jaguar on the highway at speeds of around 30-35mph (49-56km/h) and that with his patrol car's windows rolled down, he could smell "strong and distinct odor of unburned cannabis" coming out of the British sedan.

Spy Shots: Jaguar's New and More Powerful XFR-S Spotted in Production Trim

It's been about a year since our spies captured a mildly modded prototype of what we believed to be at the time an early test mule of a hardcore version of the XFR, much in the likes of the XKR-S.

Now, we can show you the first images of the XFR-S wearing its production body armor, which includes a newly designed front bumper with massive air vents and a lip spoiler, side skirts and a larger boot lid spoiler than the one found on the regular XFR.
